You find yourself in a crowded place. Suffocating and on the verge of panic. You frantically eye the exit. Your heart is ready to explode. You’re almost positive it will. You realize as dizziness swirls the faces and colors around you, that you’re miles from home. You claw through the crowd, shoving and pushing.. Anything to get the fuck out of there. You reach the exit, hands tingling and numb.. Pushing the door open the biting air hits your face like ice water. Lightheaded and ready to pass out right there on the ground, ready for your heart to just stop. Let me just drift away, never to return. Please just let me float away into the darkness. As you’re knees buckle and give, a pair hands grabs your waist. You feel the grip, gently but firm. No longer falling physically but you’re mind has already fallen. All goes black and you welcome the void….
You wake to find you are laying in your bed at home. The only light a flicker of flame on a distant shelf. Groggily you look about, becoming more aware. Your purse is by you. The dress you had on slung over the back of your desk chair. You realize that your last memory was of someone grabbing your waist trying to catch you.
Whoever it was did not just take you home, but undressed you and put your nightgown on you&put you into your bed and left without a word.
There is a note pinned to the side of your pillow; “I’m glad I caught you….”
You smile to yourself and fall back into your bed&this time you don’t give into the dark void but welcome the slumbering splendor.
